Share in the holiday cheer by donating a toy!
The holidays are a joyous time, but they can also be difficult for those struggling to make ends meet. You can bring cheer to families in your community by purchasing and donating a toy/gift for a child who might otherwise go without! This year we are adding a hygiene component to our toy collection. Can you help give joy and stability this year?
In December, families participating in Community Action programs are able to choose toys/gifts for their children at no cost to them because of generous community donations. Toys and gifts are currently being accepted for children age 0-18, especially baby/toddler items. We will happily accept donations through December 23, 2025.
To make donating easier, Community Action has created a wish list. Those interested in donating can purchase an item from the list and ship directly to Community Action. (When you check out, make sure the toys are being sent to Community Action at 210 O St.)
Toys purchased in person can be dropped off at 210 O St., Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
NEW THIS YEAR: Given the higher need we are seeing in the community, we are seeking hygiene items in addition to toys. These items are also provided at no cost to families when they pick out their toys, but our supplies are running extremely low. We're asking our community to consider adding an item such as a toothbrush or deodorant when picking out the toy they'd like to donate. You can also purchase from our Hygiene Wish List. Most needed items include: diapers (size 4, 5, 6), toothbrushes, deodorant, cleaning supplies, body wash/bar soap, and shampoo.
Volunteering: Volunteers are needed to help facilitate the families to shop for toys in the Community Action Store. Volunteer shifts are available in 2-hour shifts between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., from December 10 to 23. There is no limit to the number of shifts a volunteer can sign up for. Sign up to volunteer by clicking here.
If you have a business, group, or organization that is interested in hosting a toy drive or volunteering for Community Action, please contact Sam Bates at 402-875-9320 or sbates@communityactionatwork.org to coordinate drop off.
Those wishing to donate another way may contact Jessie Hedrick at (402) 875-9338 or jhedrick@communityactionatwork.org.
Thank you for your support!
