Financial and Family Well-Being

Free to Save Matched Savings

Community Action's Free to Save program provides individuals with low-to-moderate incomes with great incentive to save, build wealth, and transform their economic aspirations into reality. The program provides financial and asset-specific education in addition to 4:1 savings match for one of the following purchases/investments:

  • Home
  • Vehicle*
  • Post-secondary education
  • Small business start-up or expansion

Participants save $1,000, which is matched with $4,000, for a total savings of $5,000.

The Free to Save program targets individuals with annual income at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines (currently $52,400 for a family of four) and net worth less than $10,000.

*If participants currently own a vehicle, it must have more than 130,000 miles on it to replace.
