Employment Readiness Training
Unemployment and underemployment are significant barriers for individuals struggling to reach economic self-sufficiency. According to the 2011 U.S. Census, 69% of those struggling in poverty in Lancaster County alone were employed throughout the year. Even though the majority of those struggling in poverty in our community are employed, they are still not earning enough to make ends-meet.
The goal of our Employment Readiness Training is to help unemployed and underemployed individuals find and secure full-time, meaningful employment. Using individuals' skills as a starting point, our Employment and Education Administrator helps with resume building, cover letter development, job search skills, and interview skills and etiquette. When necessary, individuals are also referred to our GED Training Program or our Computer Learning Lab to gain the education and skills needed to be ready for employment.
