Last year we provided services to more than 15,000 unduplicated individuals in our communities.
There are nearly 44,000 (15%) individuals in Lancaster and Saunders Counties living in poverty. For a family of four this translates to an annual income below $24,600. 56% of these families are headed by single females. At Community Action, we create solutions to eliminate poverty. We offer over 15 programs to ensure that everyone, regardless of their economic situation, has the the opportunity to thrive.
Community Action creates opportunities for success. Our high-quality early childhood education programs ensure that our community's most vulnerable children are ready for kindergarten, and more likely to graduate from high school. Families learn and save in our matched savings program as they work to purchase their first home, launch or expand a business, or continue their education. We offer the critical next steps in establishing and maintaining long-term economic stability.
Our participants are remarkable people. They take responsibility for making lasting changes in their lives by making use of their own unique strengths. As a result, they are better able to manage their living situations, and make positive steps toward economic stability.
