A Letter of Thanks
"I am writing to thank you and your staff for the recent help I received with my rent and with the service you provided. I am currently unemployed and I received $100 from Lincoln Action Program toward the payment of my past due rent. I was able to make my rent as a result of your help.
Moreover, I appreciate the care your staff provided. She was not only attentive to the task of helping me, but she treated me as a partner to getting the help I needed. Indigence is an emotional burden and when people or agencies approach me like your staff member, that burden is lifted. Regardless of the circumstance, that burden is lifted because I have the confidence that you are on my side. She treated me as a partner, not as a threat. I only wish more people in agencies would respond as your staff does. The goal is self-sufficiency. Motivation is a key to getting there.
Thank you again."
From Unemployed to Employee of the Year

Rhonda came to Lincoln Action Program in great need of work. Having made some poor choices in the past, she was having a difficult time
obtaining adequate employment, and serious medical conditions made it imperative that she find a job with health benefits. Rhonda participated in six weeks of Career Advancement Training (CAT) Classes, after which she was hired at Tiburon Financial. Rhonda believes the classes "made the difference" in her finding gainful employment. In particular, she believes that the thank you letter she sent the employer after her first interview, a skill that she learned through CAT, was what "clinched" the job for her. Rhonda has excelled in her new job and has received the largest possible wage increase two times in a row. In 2008 Rhonda won the Tiburon Financial Employee of the Year Award.
